The Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center recently asked Friends of the Animal Center Foundation for additional medical equipment and supplies. After caring for Zamboni, a five month old puppy found frozen to the ground, they learned more sophisticated machines would make monitoring critical cases much easier.

We would like to raise $7,000 so the Animal Center can purchase higher quality products and the necessary supplies to go with them. This is a special project we would like to complete for the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center above what our normal budget can allow this fiscal year.

Big wish list items: rolling medical equipment table, blood pressure monitor, centrifuge, pulse oximeter, and CBC blood machine.

If we do not meet our goal, the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center will purchase the most needed equipment items this year and we will continue purchasing equipment as we can!

Zamboni

Zamboni was found by two young men in rural Johnson County frozen to the ground during an extreme cold snap in January. He was cold to the touch, drooling, and unable to move. The young men quickly found help, and Zamboni was on his way to the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center within the hour. The Animal Center staff immediately began hypothermia care protocol, he was put on oxygen, fluids, and monitored closely. Zamboni was reluctant to stand up on his own for the first few days and would only occasionally lift his head. Once things started looking up for him, he was moved into a foster home to continue his healing journey.

Zamboni has since been adopted and is well loved in his forever home!
